Are you ready to jumpstart your career while working outdoors? GPI’s Outdoor Workforce Crew is seeking passionate young people to gain valuable skills and experience! GPI is currently adding several positions to our Outdoor Workforce Crew. 

This role is on-site at our Darrington, Washington office 

This program is your chance to:

  • Develop in-demand skills: Get hands-on training in sought-after skills related to forestry, ecological restoration, and facilities maintenance. This may include but is not limited to: chainsaw certification, CPR/First Aid, basic carpentry skills, and use and maintenance of various hand tools and small equipment.

  • Build your resume: Gain real-world experience that will impress employers across multiple sectors.

  • Network with professionals: Learn from experienced crew leaders and make connections that could launch your career.

  • Explore your passion for the outdoors: Combine your love for nature with a fulfilling career path.

Projects may include:

  • Planting native trees and shrubs

  • Removing invasive plants

  • Building and maintaining trails

  • Maintaining campsites and picnic areas

  • Basic carpentry 

  • Stream typing and other forest management-related activities 

Who we're looking for:

  • Enthusiastic and motivated young people (18+)

  • Strong work ethic and ability to do physically demanding outdoor work in a variety of weather conditions

  • Ability to take direction and work as part of a team

  • Interest in learning about forestry, ecology, and conservation

  • Leadership skills

Compensation for this role is $20.00/hr and will be 32 hours per week for up to 7 months.

At Glacier Peak Institute we consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, which may lead individual compensation to vary depending on job related qualifications, skills, and experience. All full time employees are eligible for benefits which include:  Medical, vision, dental, retirement 401(k) match, and a flexible schedule with an unlimited PTO plan
