SUMMER PROGRAMS
Stay tuned - more details to come!
GPI's Summer Adventure Programs are unique outings that take advantage of all that Western Washington has to offer! We host programs throughout the region from the San Juan Islands to the North Cascades and beyond!
WHAT TO EXPECT: Campers' days may be filled with outdoor adventures and skill-building, including hiking, canoeing, foraging, orienteering, swimming, and more! Special activities will be offered for specific sessions, including rock climbing, whitewater rafting, and ocean kayaking.
**Camp activities and locations are subject to change. Up-to-date details will be shared with campers and families in the week leading up to the event.**
Past Programs
Everyday is an adventure with GPI! These are just some of the ways we have explored the wonders that surround us and learned new things along the way. Thank you to our hardworking staff, volunteers, and highly-valued WSU 4-H partners for making these memories possible!
Bike Ride to Wellman Basin
At the base of Whitehorse Mountain, students explored the trails, learned, and practiced important mountaineering and orienteering skills they can use in their future hiking adventures.
Bike and Hike to Brown's Creek
A gorgeous bike ride adventure Brown's Creek. Along the way, we stopped to explore the area and enjoyed a yummy trailside meal. Students gained hands on experience in building campfires and practicing Leave No Trace principles.
Canoe and Camp at Baker Lake
After canoeing across Baker Lake, youth set up camp at Anderson Point. We spent the day canoeing, swimming, fishing and exploring the area in and around the lake.
Floating Sauk River
Navigating the Sauk allowed youth to practice leadership roles while navigating the calmer, lower section of the river from Backman County Park to Government Bridge. Youth enjoyed a leisurely floating ending in the chance to take a dip.
Three Day Backpacking to Round Lake
After hiking to Round Lake on the first day, we spent the second swimming, fishing, and hanging out at the lake. There, youth learned how to safely and successfully camp in the back country.
Canoeing at Burnaby Slough
A canoe through the slough provides the perfect setting for youth to engage in discussions about river morphology and slough habitats. Along the way we picked some delicious blackberries, and played canoe water polo.
